February 2010 President Search Update

Last week, after the final candidate visited campus and the community feedback had been collected, the Search Committee convened to discuss the reference checking performed by Isaacson, Miller, as well as the feedback that was submitted on each finalist by those who attended the meetings with the candidates.

The Board of Trustees will receive a report from the Search Committee and a comprehensive packet of materials on each candidate, an overview of the references, and the community feedback, which they will have an opportunity to review in advance of the March 5 Trustee meeting.

December 2009 President Search Update

Last week, after a focused and active search period that began in early September and included numerous search committee meetings through the Fall, the President Search Committee interviewed eight semi-finalist candidates in Boston.

Each candidate can be considered an outstanding leader and exciting prospective president of Becker College. Our subsequent deliberations focused on the alignment of each candidate's experience and the identified priorities of the College. Those deliberations led to the selection and invitation of four finalist candidates who will visit campus the weeks of January 25th and February 1st.

These campus visits will likely span two days for each candidate, including sessions with faculty, staff, students, trustees and other constituency groups. Attendees will be invited to provide feedback to the search committee via evaluation forms that will be available at those times. Each session will begin with brief opening remarks from the candidate, followed by ample opportunity for questions and answers. The specific schedule for those visits will be crafted over the coming weeks and will be posted to this site. Everyone's involvement and input will be very important to the search process and the future of the institution.

We will announce each of the candidates on January 15th and make their background information available. This should allow all participants in the campus visits the opportunity to get to know the backgrounds of each candidate before they come to campus. Waiting until January 15 to announce the finalist names will allow the search firm representatives time to perform a rigorous process of reference and background checks on each of the candidates.

It is important that this intermediate stage is done in a careful, thoughtful, and focused manner, and we thank you for your patience. Updates will continue to be posted throughout the remainder of the search.
